Northbrook is a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, and offers a small town feel with all the conveniences of the nearby metropolis. With more than 30,000 people calling Northbrook home, the town is a tight-knit community.
At the time of its incorporation in 1901, it was called Shermerville after the man who donated land to build a train station. Before settlers arrived in the area, it was home to Potawatomi Indians. In the mid-1900s, the effort to improve its name lead the village to change its name to Northbrook because a northern branch of the Chicago River flows through its center.
